According to Batak people, Ihan Batak (Batak Fish) or Dengke Jurungjurung is a fortune fish to person who eats it. Nowadays, to get this fish is quite hard and the price is quite expensive as Ihan Batak is almost extinct. In most huta (villages) in the area of Lake Toba, there are some Ihan Batak found by anglers and fishers in the river, but only few. You have to pay from 100 thousands to 1 million rupiahs for each fishes.
Ihan Batak in traditional Batak culture is an absolute requirement to held ceremonies or parties.
